ELLORA CAVES,MAHARASHTRA,INDIA


      Ellora is one of the largest rock-cut caves in the world.UNESCO listed this awesome creation in the list of World heritage site.this monastery temple caves situated in the Maharashtra state of India.The site features over 100 caves,of which 34 caves are open to public.


        The site presents monuments and artwork of Buddhism,Hinduism and Jainism from the 600-1000 CE period.These were excavated out of the vertical basalt cliff in the Charandhiri hills.These consist of 12 Buddhist (caves 1-12),17 Hindu (caves 13-29) and 5 Jain (Caves 30-34) caves.The cave 16 features the largest single monolithic rock excavation in the world.This huge one known as the Kailasa temple,a chariot shaped monument dedicated to shiva.


       These caves are also known as the ‘Verul Leni’,and was an important historic  commercial center of the deccan region,located on an ancient trade route of south Asia.These architectural creations was made without using any kind of machineries,therefore a question still remaining here,'how they made it'.The people those who visited this caves,they still searching for an answer. it is one of the popular destination among all type touristers like historical,architectural and common touristers.
