Also known as Himavad
Gopalaswamy betta situated at the Chamarajanagar district of the Karnataka
state in India.This hill is a wonderful destination to those who love the
nature or those who love the pilgrim trip.Here is a temple on the top of the
hill,that is dedicated to Gopalaswamy, Which is one of the name of the God
Krishna.
This hill situated in the
Bandipur National Park.It has an altitude of 1450 m from sea level which is considering
as the highest peak in this National Park.It lies in the core area of the
Bandipur National Park and frequented by wild animals including Elephants.
Here is a motorable road
all the way to the top of the hill,But private vehicle not allowed beyond the
forest checkpost.One has to make use of the mini bus arranged by forest
department to visit the temple.Entry fee is collected at the checkpost in foot
of the hill.Here is a forest department guest house at the top of the hill,which
is not available for public.
TIPS
- Visiting time : 8:30 am to 4 pm
- Night stay on the top not allowed
- Materials used to pooja,like flowers,fruits,etc. are permitted.
- Other food items are not allowed to be carried in.
- Private vehicles not allowed.
- Entry restricted by an entry fee.
- Trekking,Picnicking,Partying are punishable offense.
- Bus ticket rate : 20 INR needed to one side journey.
