URUMBIKKARA,KERALA

Urumbikkara is a hill station in Idukki district. she is beautiful with green valleys and rocks. It is a good place for off road driving.

The urumbikkara situated  about 20 km from Mundakkayam,You had better use off road vehicles such as mahindra major or jeep. This route is a little more difficult than your expectation. But if you climb to the hill, the nature waiting for you with something that beyond your imagination. It is the beautiful valley within the kottayam and idukki distitrics.you can see the Waterfalls and streams in the rubber plantations of Kottayam. And the hills of the Idukki , the foged valleys, the cold water lakes waiting for you.

Urumbikkara has A smell of the Wildflowers .You can feel the nature freshness in Every morning.Every morning of Urumbikkara can tell you the story of the centuries.Years  ago, the father of the rubber plantation ,JOHN JOSEPH MURPHY (1872-1957)(Murphy saipu ,an Irish planter),founded tea plantations, tea factories, and orange plantation,etc..You can see this things in there still now.Urumbikkara keeps its beauty of antiquity without modernity. His wife’s bathing pool  is now known as The Madamkkulam. The suicide point and hills give us the cool views.

From here on the Ellappara-Kuttikkanam road to Meemala, you can see two waterfalls in this route.Vellappara falls and Pappani falls. The first one is vellappara falls and the pappani falls 500 meter far from the first one. There is an old iron bridge near the waterfalls that give us an undescribed feel.

The urumbikkara is a non-popular area,so you can see here a nature that didn’t touched by travellers.I am strongly recommended this place for those who liked offroad driving and trucking. The urumbikkara gives her natural beauty as a gift for those who take adventure for climb her.
