HARIHAR FORT lies in a triangular rock with all the three side vertical and is approachable only from one side.It situated at an altitude of 3676 feet above the sea level.The most fascinating thing to do in this fort is the trekking.
The harihar fort will give you a unique trekking experience through the 80 degree sloped rock-cut steps.It is just like a vertical ladder and provided small grips in each steps.These grips are the only safety guard while you climbing the steps.There are 117 steps in all.Ascending and descending through this path is a thrilling experience.
After climbing up the
first of stairs one can reach the entrance of the fort also called Darwaja.This
entrance is very narrow and dark path,be careful while you walking through this
path.100 steps you should climb again to reach the top of the fort.
There is a small plateau on
the top of the fort.A small temple situated on this plateau.Potable water
available from a small pond lies in front of the temple.There is small palace
with two rooms inside the fort.There are five cisterns along one side of the
palace,this water also potable.Tourists need to trekk 4 kilometers from
Nirgudpada(Base village) in order to reach the Harihar fort.
