            KODAIKANAL is a hill town in the state of Tamil Nadu.Its name in the Tamil language means “The Gift Of The Forest”.Kodaikanal is referred to as the “PRINCESS OF HILL STATIONS” and has a long history as a retreat and popular tourist destination.The town of Kodaikanal sits on a plateau above the southern escarpment of the upper Palani Hills at 6998 feet,between the Parappar and Gundar valleys.Kodaikanal has a monsoon-influenced climate.The temperature are cool throughout the year due to the high elevation of the city.


KODAI LAKE

  • A star shaped, man made lake.
  • That draped on an area of 60 acres.
  • It is situated in the center of kodaikanal.
  • The 5 kilometers path that skirts the periphery of this lovely lake is a favourite walk for the locals and tourists alike.

COAKER’S WALK

  • 1kilometer  paved pedestrian path
  • In the edge of steep slopes on the southern side of kodai.
  • Winding around Mount Nebo.
  • Sometimes can get the view of Dolphin nose in the south.

BERIJAM LAKE

  • 20 kilometers from kodaikanal.
  • Surrounded by dense forest.
  • Boating is prohibited as the lake is a source of water for villages.
  • Forest department permission needed to enter to forest.
  • Limited number of vehicles are allowed.
  • Entry time : 9:30 a.m – 3:00 p.m
  • Bison,deer,Panthers and snakes are often spotted in this area.
  • psilocybin mushrooms and other poisonous mushrooms grow here.
  • Rupees 150 per vehicle.

DOLPHIN’S NOSE

  • Flat rock projecting over a breathtaking chasm 6600 feet deep.
  • Beautiful view of steep rocky escapements rising from the plains can be seen.
  • Very steep trail after Pambar bridge.

BRYANT PARK

SILVER CASCADE FALLS

SOLAR OBSERVATORY

  • 6 kilometers from bus stand.
  • Highest location near Kodaikanal
  • situated in the altitude of 2343 metre (7687 feet).

KURINJI TEMPLE

GUNA CAVES

  • Also called Devil’s Kitchen.
  • Deep bat-infested chambers.
  • Situated between the three gigantic boulders.
  • The deep ravines of the caves are now closed due to the tragic death of 12 youths there.
