DHANUSHKODI,TAMIL NADU,INDIA


           Dhanushkodi is an abandoned town at the southern-eastern tip of Pamban Island of the state of Tamilnadu in india.It is situated to the south-east of Pamban and is about 29 kilometers west of Talaimannar in Sri Lanka.The town was destroyed during the 1964 Rameshwaram cyclone and remains uninhabited in the aftermath.

         Now Dhanushkodi is considering as a tourist place.We can see the old creations here like Church,Railway station,Water tank,etc.It will give an awesome experience with blue sky ,blue waves,and White sand.

PAMBAN ISLAND

  • Also known as Rameshwaram island.
  • Famous place from its mention in the ramayana.
  • Can cross the Pamban bridge through the journey.
  • Can see the railway bridge also.

DHANUSHKODI BEACH

  • Situated in the tip of the Rameswaram island.
  • Bay of bengal and Indian Ocean merges.
  • Known as Arichal munai in Tamil.
  • Ram sethu viewpoint.
  • Adam’s bridge.
  • Not safe for swimming.
  • sometimes waves are rise 12 feet high.


GULF OF MANNAR MARINE NATIONAL PARK

  • Consisting 21 small islands.
  • Protected area of India.
  • Core area of the Gulf of mannar Biosphere reserve.
  • Includes 10 km buffer zone around the park.
  • Public access limited to glass bottom boat rides.
  • Can see Dolphins,seahorses,aquatic plants and turtles.

RAMAR PATHAM TEMPLE

  • Believed to have footprints of lord Ram himself,on a stone.
  • Famous temple in the holy Ramayana stories. 

RUINED BELONGINGS OF OLD TOWN

  • Old church which was made with corals reefs.
  • Old water tank.
  • Old railway station.
